It is about the subject matter, the problems of V. Zemliak short prose, attention is focused on the artistic uniqueness of the writer’s prose, its genre differentiation, features and methods of image creation. It was determined that an important component of the artist’s prose is extensive prehistory to the works. The specifics of creating images are revealed. Characterization models of heroes are illustrated with specific examples.
Emphasis is placed on the role of the narrator in the works, with the help of which the author achieves the estimated (desired effect). The peculiarities of the creation of a female image are also considered (“Hanna Lebyd”, “Our Orysia”, “The Forester’s
Daughter”, “How the Cuckoo Became”, etc.). The diversity of the imagery, which is expressed by the dynamics of the content and form of the work, is proved. Emphasis is placed on the individualization of the language of the characters, its intonation richness.
Attention is drawn to the narrative style of writing, and the role of the landscape and interior in the writer’s prose is highlighted, which are never decorative in nature, but are a kind of background for revealing the psychology of the characters.
